What you can expect next
After you submit your manuscript, you will receive a confirmation message/email that the submission has been successfully received. A manuscript ID/number will be assigned and should be used in any future communication. The editorial team will then conduct an initial screening (scope fit, completeness, formatting, and basic quality) before sending the manuscript for peer review. If you do not receive confirmation within a reasonable time, please contact the editorial office using the official contact details on the journal website.
Post-submission: Review and decision process
After submission, the editorial office conducts an initial screening to ensure the manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope and meets basic submission requirements (completeness, format, and language clarity). Manuscripts that fall outside the scope or do not meet minimum standards may be declined at this stage.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be sent for single-blind peer review (reviewers remain anonymous to authors), typically involving at least two independent reviewers. Based on reviewer reports and the editor’s assessment, the editorial decision may be one of the following:
- Accept
- Minor revision
- Major revision
- Reject
Authors will be informed of the decision through the journal’s official communication channel. Please use your manuscript ID/number in all correspondence. If you need an update on your submission status, contact the editorial office via the official contact details on the journal website.
If your submission is accepted
If your manuscript is accepted, the editorial office will contact the corresponding author with the next steps for publication. Authors may be asked to complete a publication agreement/licence and confirm final author details (names, affiliations, and contact information).
Open access and licence. The journal publishes articles under a Creative Commons licence (recommended: CC BY 4.0). If an article processing charge (APC) applies, the author will be informed clearly after acceptance and before publication.
Proofing. Before publication, the corresponding author will receive page proofs (or a final layout) to check for minor errors (typos, formatting, author details). Substantive rewriting is not expected at this stage.
Publication. Once final corrections are completed, the article will be scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue and made available on the journal website.
