This study aims to explore and describe the impact of performance appraisal and employee training on the work performance of civil servants at the Department of Transportation in Sijunjung Regency. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Informants were selected purposively from structural officials and staff directly involved in the performance evaluation and training process. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key patterns related to the implementation and outcomes of these HR practices. The findings reveal that performance appraisal is still carried out administratively with limited constructive feedback, and training is not yet based on systematic needs analysis, nor equally accessible to all employees. However, both appraisal and training show positive influence on certain performance aspects such as discipline, task completion, and technical competencies. The study concludes that improving employee performance requires a more strategic, participatory, and sustainable approach to managing appraisal and training systems within public institutions.
